Sowing and Reaping

II Corinthians 9:1-15; Malachi 3:10-12

Memory Verse: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:5).

Planting is putting some seeds into the hole in the ground so that they can grow and have fruits. When the fruits are now big, the planter of the seeds will go and collect all the fruits. This is known as reaping. During the time of reaping, the fruits are very many and more than the seeds that were planted. The planter is then very happy. God is calling all friends of Jesus to be like the planter by giving so that they can reap great blessings. The study is divided into three.

1. HOW TO GIVE

How do friends of Jesus plant for Jesus? The Bible likens giving to planting. So they plant by giving to Jesus. There are three (3) important ways of planting. (1) By planting the seed of the word of God. (2) By giving your tithe and offering in the Church without the teacher forcing you. (3) By planting the seed of kindness - giving books, pencils, clothes and other things to the needy (Matthew 25:34-46). When you give to God, you must give willingly and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7). Do not use your offering to buy cookies and pops. You must not show off when giving and you must give the best to Jesus. If you give Jesus little, you will receive little in return but if you give Jesus much, He will reward you many times.

2. WHY YOU MUST GIVE

Friends of Jesus must plant so that there will be money to take care of the Church of God. God has commanded in His word that all His children must give. You must sow in obedience to God’s word and to show your love to Him.

3. THE RESULTS OF GIVING

(a) The work of God and the Children Church will grow. (b) You will always have more than what you give. (c) In time of trouble, Jesus will deliver you (Psalm 41:1). (d) Many sinful children will become friends of Jesus. Jesus is calling all the sinful children to stop doing bad things. They should ask Jesus to forgive them and make Him their Lord and Saviour so that they will live with Him in heaven.

LESSON: All friends of Jesus must give so as to receive Jesus’ blessings. I must be a cheerful giver.
